CAS at a Glance.

CAS was established in 2005 with a dedicated group of environmental professionals to provide a better quality of education willing to fulfill the current demand for ecological issues in affiliation with Tribhuvan University to produce competent human resources in the field of environment for the national, regional and global markets. The motto of the college is “Knowledge, Excellence, Leadership and Demand- base Environmental Education”. Our objective is to produce highly qualified and motivated personnel to meet the present market demand in environment sector of the 21st Century.

Finding the right college is no simple matter, naturally, a college that is highly regarded for the quality of its academic programs supported by qualified and experienced faculties would meet the goal of academic excellence. With such strength, CAS is committed to become a leading college of international stature and acclaim in environmental education in Nepal. Our progress so far, academic competence of the students and good placements of our graduates in different environment related activities / programs in country and aboard reflect that CAS is in right direction to achieve its goal.

The environment has become one of the biggest issues in this globalization. It has become very crucial for the world to integrate technology and the overall ecological field. It has become very necessary to adapt to ecological issues, and different approaches are needed in every sector, especially in academic programs like engineering and management. Different policies and regulations are needed in Nepal to conserve and protect the environment through various activities. This was the perfect scenario for the College of Applied Sciences to be founded.

The main goal of the College of Applied Sciences is to provide education according to the demands of society and provide candidates with what they are concerned about. Career set, time utilization, recognized certificates, accepting challenges, and creating their own business are the basic mindsets of today’s generation. This college is the best way to achieve these mindsets.

The College of Applied Sciences offers programs under the affiliation of Tribhuvan University (TU). Currently, we are offering a B.Sc. in Environmental Science (4-year course) at the Bachelors level and a M.Sc. in Environmental Science (2-year course) at the Masters level.

The B.Sc. and M.Sc. Environmental Science programs offered at CAS-Nepal are affiliated with Tribhuvan University (T.U.), Nepal. The B.Sc. program spans four years, while the M.Sc. program is completed in four semesters. This affiliation ensures that the education you receive at CAS-Nepal meets the highest academic standards and is recognized both nationally and internationally.

BSc in Environmental Science

The Bachelor of Science (BSc) program in Environmental Science, affiliated with Tribhuvan University (TU), is a comprehensive undergraduate program offered by the College of Applied Sciences-Nepal. The BSc program in Environmental Science is a four-year course that combines foundational knowledge with practical skills. Both the MSc and BSc programs in Environmental Science offered by the College of Applied Sciences-Nepal provide students with a strong academic foundation and practical skills to pursue careers in environmental research, environmental management, environmental consultancy, and other related fields. The programs emphasize interdisciplinary approaches and equip students with the necessary knowledge and tools to contribute to sustainable environmental practices and policies.

Academic Calendar

M.Sc. & B.Sc. programmes are adjusted with TU academic calendar. The training and fieldwork programmes are organized by CAS with support of invited professionals during autumn and spring months

Winter 15 days, summer 15 days and Dashain 15 day’s vacation

Collaborations

CAS gives high priority to the collaborative efforts in addressing different environmental issues, both local and global. Accordingly, this college has already established collaborative linkages through MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with concerned governmental, non-governmental and international organizations and such collaborations are focused on:

  • Policy document preparation – CAS has prepared or has been involved in the preparation of policy documents (Draft IEE Guidelines for MoAC, Draft Hazardous Waste Management Guidelines for MoEnv. etc.)
  • Research – CAS undertakes research to generate relevant information and thus to support policy level and different development organizations. The research grants acquired for these purposes have been found to be very encouraging to the students undertaking thesis research. Involvement of CAS students in research activities of its collaborating research laboratories and organizations has become a great motivating factor.
  • Training – in addition to its regular training programs, CAS has been organizing joint trainings both for the students striving for environmental career and personnel associated with different organizations working in the field of environment.

Assistanceships

CAS graduates are provided the assistantship opportunities and those having enough evidence of involvement in different academic and research activities have already gone abroad for further studies (PhD, Masters) and are also getting good job offers.
